Sched is not an app but a mobile friendly website. After you have clicked on it, remember to save it to your home screen.
GETTING THERE: JACC does not provide transportation to and from the airport or train station. You will need to make travel arrangements for your delegation.
WHAT TO EXPECT: A well-planned, motivating, inspiring and educational experience for both students and faculty.
WHEN SHOULD I GET THERE: In plenty of time to check in all your students and plan time to eat. A flyer will be posted online with info on nearby restaurants.
WHERE DO I GO FOR MORE INFORMATION?
The final conference schedule will be posted a few weeks prior to convention, with the provision that we will make last-minute changes.
Until then, updates will be posted regularly on the JACC website https://jacconline.org
and the JACC faculty Facebook page
We will also post updates on the JACC Faculty Group email list. Closer to the conference, we’ll use Twitter and Instagram.
The students also have their own Facebook page, and the student presidents will be posting their updates there.
JACC 411 – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
1. The JACC Writing Lab will provide power only for laptops or Chromebooks students bring into the labs to use to write their stories. AlphaSmarts are no longer used and JACC will no longer check-in laptops, so competitors will need to bring their own or a college laptop/Chromebook to the lab to compete. There is no wifi in the writing lab, so competitors will also need to be able to save a document or PDF file to a USB drive and contest proctors will transfer the files from students’ USB drives to a JACC computer for judging. Students may also bring stylebooks and dictionaries into the lab, but JACC will not be keepers of any tools this year.
2. Students competing in photo contests should bring their own digital cameras, cords and card readers to download images onto JACC provided computers in the Photo Lab.
3. Students competing in the team feature and video story contests should bring their own digital cameras (capable of shooting video for video story), cords and card readers. They may use their own or their college’s laptops, but will also have some lab time available in the Photo Lab should they need it.
4. Bring your college publications to share.
5. Non-hotel provided food will be allowed in the Student Lounge this year, but students must be sure to clean up after themselves. Colleges who wish to donate snacks to the lounge may do so.
6. JACC President Patricia Stark is making proctor assignments, so be sure to check in with her at registration to confirm your assignments and highlight them on your personal schedule. We have a lean staff this year and are depending on the help of advisers to make this a smooth convention, so please pay close attention to the clock so you don’t miss your assignment. Also put on your schedule the annual state faculty meeting that will be held at a luncheon Saturday, noon-2:15 p.m.
7. Don’t forget to have each delegate — faculty, staff and students — sign a behavior and a media release form. They have been available on the Wild Apricot registration site, but we are also attaching them to this email for your convenience. They are due from each delegate at registration.
8. For JACC to function smoothly throughout the year, we need to get official business done at our annual convention. So don’t forget: To be eligible to receive on-the-spot awards Saturday night, one student from each delegation must attend the annual the student meeting and board election Saturday at 4 p.m., and one faculty member and one student member from each delegation must attend the annual General Assembly meeting Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
