Each week assign a student to review and critique one of the print issues listed from issuu.com in the Online Elsewhere newsletter. Assign one student to each listing and rotate staff members each week. (They can find each week’s listings on JACC’s website: see the pulldown menu). What do they like about the issue? What do they dislike? Have them look for one story that can lead to a story for their publication. Compare the number of stories per issue and the percentage of opinion stories vs. non-opinion stories. Have them do a side-by-side review of a story similar to one run in their own publication. (i.e., a football story or a review of Joker) The idea is to learn by comparing their work to that of others.
