On Saturday, Sept. 19, 10 a.m. to noon PT, the College of Communications at Cal State Fullerton will host a student journalism symposium on covering elections. The keynote speaker in the 10 a.m. PT hour will be the just-installed 2020-2021 President of the Society of Professional Journalists Matthew Hall, editorial and opinion director for The San Diego Union Tribune. In the 11 a.m. PT hour, our confirmed panelists include Arit John, staff writer with the Los Angeles Times; Laura Barrón-López, national political reporter for POLITICO; and Vania Patino, reporter with KFDA News Channel 10 in Amarillo, Texas.
We are also providing a post-event hour for informal networking until 1 p.m. PT for interested participants. Please encourage your recent alumni and local journalists to consider joining us for the networking portion of the event, or all of it if they are available!
